Summary
As a Senior Industrial Designer, you will be directly involved in evolving and developing components for road, time trial, and cycle cross bicycles. Our process enables designers to have complete control of their designs from ideation to tooling ready CAD geometry. Designers are challenged with developing cutting edge aesthetics that incorporates functional requirements, ergonomics, market needs, and product finishes. Given the wide range of road bikes today, designers must be able to interpret and synthesize new designs to fit but also aesthetically lead the intended market.
Responsibilities
- Provide on time solutions to LPD projects of varying complexity and breadth. - Aesthetic Development of products through sketching/rendering and model making. - Create visual excitement in new products while applying brand form language. - Product Ergonomics/Semantics. - CAD Development. - Communicate design direction with internal ID team and PM. - Work with Product Engineers to configure/package the engineering. concepts into designs that are compatible with existing products. - Coordinate with Finish and Product Appearance teams as defined by the LPD requirements. - Provide technical drawings for IDS documentation. Incorporate manufacturing knowledge to part design/function. - Support Marcom and PM product launches and presentations with applicable materials. - Further refine ID workflow process and co-ordination with engineering while working within LPD process. - Helps facilitate and initiate a group dynamic in ID. **Objectives:** - Improve communication of design development within ID to PM’s and team leaders, through design reviews and updates. - Work to integrate ID, graphics, and finishes through a holistic, collaborative approach with the design team. - Become more involved in Finishing and Processes in up front development. - Have greater participation in product Graphics development with Product Appearance Manager. - Participate in Concept Phase meetings in Taiwan to discuss finish and processes with development team. - Become more in tune with the greater ID community through attendance of seminars and conferences. - Continue to help define LPD’s application in the ID process. - Work with Global CAD Manager and Global ID Manager to develop ID CAD workflow process and best practices. - Work with Global ID Manager to enhance the ID team’s working dynamic and foster collaboration/ update ID weekly meeting structure. - Explore successful brainstorming and ideation techniques to help develop new techniques for conducting constructive ID design critiques and documenting results for the development team.
Ideal Candidate
- 4 year accredited BFA or BS Degree in Industrial Design. - 5+ years of Industrial Design experience. - Experienced designing in ProE or SolidWorks for manufacturing. - Proficient using Adobe’s Creative Suite. - Skillful at developing form. - Solid design process. - Skilled working cross functionally. - Good verbal and visual communication skills. - Ability to self-manage projects. - Mechanically inclined. - Proven history of strong design.
