Summary

The Associate Production Manager (APM) oversees the management of one or more front end departments for a production. Departments include Story, Script, Editorial and Visual Development. An APM reports directly into Production Manager and partners closely with the Department Lead. Direct reports are production coordinators and assistants.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and oversee the department schedule and budget, making sure deadlines met and milestones are achieved.
  • Maintain clear and open dialogue with Production Manager, other SPA/SPI departments and outside vendors. Provide current information to other preproduction departments.
  • Update status reports, sequence list and tracking documents for the department.
  • Ensure proper preparation for all meetings and reviews.
  • Take thorough notes and distribute.
  • Manage artist assigned and deliveries.
  • Ensure that artists receive, understand and execute director notes.
  • Manage coordinator or PA for department (assigning tasks, morale building, mentoring).
Ideal Candidate
  • 3 or more years of managerial experience in feature film production environment. with an emphasis in animation and/or visual effects.
  • Working knowledge of the animation preproduction pipeline.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of production management, including budget & schedule management, personnel and performance management.
  • Possess excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and promote a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a high energy, fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

  • Advanced Excel, Photoshop, Flix, Google docs, production tracking software
