Summary
The Purchasing Manager for North America manages the purchases and strategies for assigned direct food ingredient categories (dairy ingredients, starches, eggs, packaging, meat products, liquid sweeteners, etc.), acts as a liaison to Sensient’s Beverage Business Unit to help promote communication and alignment to Business Unit goals pertaining to Procurement, optimizes purchases as directed and in accordance with policies and procedures and supports activities of the Quality and Regulatory functions. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for achieving assigned cost saving targets as assigned by the Procurement Director.
Responsibilities
* Assumes leadership role for assigned categories across North America. Responsible for NA Category Strategies and aligning and proactively driving initiatives for raw materials purchases ether as multi-regional or regional to optimizer economic benefit. * Responsible for the functional guidance to regional Purchasing Managers and Plant Materials Managers. * Purchase raw materials in a total cost manner through Strategic Sourcing techniques. * Coordinates the Procurement function with Marketing, Operations, Quality, Regulatory and R&D for all new products and/or alternate materials. * Identifies and qualifies new suppliers. * Prepares contracts with suppliers for materials through negotiated pricing. * Monitors purchases to ensure conformance to specification, price, delivery and quality. * Assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on supplier acceptability. * Implement sourcing standards including process & execution. * Drive productivity opportunities with supply base to deliver cost saving objectives. * Track PO activity and supplier performance. * Hold quarterly reviews with suppliers and develop log of actions. * Drive effective risk plans and create payment tracking and invoice analysis. * Works/visits suppliers as necessary; investigates new suppliers to maintain or establish favorable purchase agreements. * Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4 year College or University * Minimum 5 years of experience in a strategic sourcing position * Past experience working through Procurement Strategies and Strategic Sourcing. * Strong organizational, negotiation, and leadership skills. Working knowledge of supplier negotiations, supplier contracting and value analysis techniques. * Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. * Understanding computer based purchasing systems and Microsoft software products.
