Lead UI Engineer

Sailthru is one of the fastest growing SaaS companies in NYC. Our retail and publishing customers are among the largest organizations worldwide and they use our platform to provide a connected customer experience across today’s ever growing list of channels, platforms and devices.

As a Sailthru development team leader you will be instrumental in building new features, contributing to the code base, and making architecture improvements while working closely with your team members.

• You will help define the tech standards at Sailthru and beyond through the mentorship of young developers, teaching technical as well as soft skills, such as task breakdown, estimation, design patterns, and more.
• You will work with Product to maintain a clear vision and roadmap for the codebase will be your core responsibilities, as well as the system's architecture, design.
• As a well rounded leader, you will understand long-term business goals and requirements, as well as technical limitations and draw on that insight to guide roadmap and assist in prioritization.
• Work alongside our UX team to champion an intuitive and easeful user experience on behalf of our clients.
• You will share your knowledge and perspective as you manage and lead team members, providing feedback, reviews, and career growth.

Technical Requirements:

• Solid background in computer science; strong experience in data structures, and algorithms
• Strong experience with Javascript/CSS, JQuery. Experience with Javascript frameworks (Angular, Backbone, React, etc.) a strong plus.
• Proficiency in one or more Object Oriented languages (such as PHP or Java).
• Proficiency in software testing and quality assurance
• A strong understanding of programming best practices, design patterns, and developing in frameworks

Leadership Requirements:

• 2+ years management experience
• You can communicate to engineers, designers, and customers, easily switching between technical discussions, user experience, and business strategy.
• You are no stranger to the agile and scrum practices and understand how they contribute to your team’s success
• You have demonstrated your ability to lead, manage, and complete complicated projects with multiple stakeholders; both on time and in budget.
• You work with product and designers, converting business requirements and design mockups into technical specs for your team to execute on.
