Claims Manager

Global Special Risks, LLC is a subsidiary of RSG Underwriting Managers. Global Special Risks (GSR) specializes in underwriting various exposures in the upstream oil and gas business. The majority of GSR's business is placed through exclusive programs, the result of long standing relationships with the London insurance market. GSR is seeking for a Claims Manager to join our growing, fast-paced office located in Houston, Texas, limited travel is anticipated. The ideal candidate should have over 7+ years of experience within a TPA, Carrier or Agency.

* GSR's claims manager provides over sight to all claims functions for GSR. * Reports directly to the CEO and works primarily on General Liability, Umbrella, OEE, equipment and environmental claims for various London contracts. * Maintains claims paying authority up to the limit specified in each on contract. * In addition to having regular contact with London carrier claims departments, the GSR claims manager assigns and works with outside coverage counsel to determine coverage, assigns loss adjusters for each claim, knows contract policies and how they respond to filed claims, and provides overall management to the claims function. * Will work closely with the GSR Chief Underwriting Officer, underwriting and senior management. * Participates in market conversations on a regular basis.

* Bachelor’s Degree, adjuster licenses. * (CPCU) or similar designation is preferred but not required. * Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects. * Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems. * Technical skills with Excel, PowerPoint and Word and /or business intelligence tools in order to perform loss run data analysis * Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to communicate both internally and externally with senior management, business leadership and business partners. * Strong energy background with Multi-lines experience with Property, Marine, Liability & environmental claims. * Proven ability to accurately and timely analyze coverage, draft coverage position letters, instruct and collaborate with counsel regarding litigation and coverage strategies and negotiate and resolve claims All within scope of delegated authority. * Knowledge of claims, legal and coverage issues within the Energy sector throughout all U.S. & Canadian jurisdictions. * Ability to develop, analyze, and implement strategies with a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
