A Junior Systems Administrator employee is responsible for daily management of various NNTP, VPN, Cloud Storage, application, and system services on Linux and Solaris servers. Additional responsibilities include: Work on various system projects related to Linux, UNIX, storage, and application support Administer storage systems and MySQL databases Creation and maintenance of bash, Perl, and PHP scripts Work on escalated issues before involving the Tier 3 Engineering team Document problem details, troubleshooting steps, and resolution details for later review

* System administration in support of a Linux and Solaris infrastructure * Develop, enhance, and maintain systems and software * Handle escalated issues from the Tier 1 NOC team by troubleshooting more in-depth (training and tools will be provided) * Provide backup coverage for the Tier 1 NOC * Escalate to Tier 3 when necessary and work hand-in-hand with Tier 3 on these issues * Document solutions to share with other team members

**Requirements** * Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP server/client communication * Demonstrated knowledge of bash shell scripting * Working knowledge of the IP protocol suite, specifically relating to the applications and services that utilize these protocols: SSH, NNTP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP * Demonstrated ability working with UNIX shell commands and system utilities (e.g. grep, awk, sed, ssh, syslog, ln, sort, uniq, diff) * Demonstrated ability to think creatively and communicate accurately * Demonstrated customer service experience **Desired** * Demonstrated experience in managing multi-vendor Linux and Solaris server system installations * Working knowledge of storage system (JBOD, RAID, NFS, NetApp) configuration, systems logging, and exception diagnosis * Demonstrated knowledge of Perl and PHP programming techniques as related to Internet applications design, network management and systems management * Demonstrated ability to design and code critical systems projects * Familiarity with software and systems testing and debugging * Experience writing technical documents and procedures for engineering groups * Intermediate Cloud Computing, Intermediate Virtualization, Intermediate SOLARIS, Intermediate SAN Storage Area Network, Intermediate Linux, Intermediate DHCP/DNS
