Database Analyst

Under general management, supports the administration of the company’s distributed databases. Responsible for the efficient design, maintenance and implementation of distributed databases. Troubleshoots and provides guidance, and direction for various issues related to database performance, product evaluation, monitoring, storage management, security, including controlled access and other governance requirements. Plans and evaluates RLI’s current and future database and server requirements in accordance with technology needs and emergence.

* Administers all aspects of RLI’s distributed databases. * Troubleshoots various issues related to distributed databases. * Maintains and performs governance of database platforms. * Performs maintenance on Microsoft SQL Server platforms. * Monitors server performance. * Ensures the development of a backup and recovery scheme for database environment and the development and implementation of disaster recovery procedures.

**Required Skills** * Ability to use analytical methods in identifying server processes to find workable solutions. * Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external contacts on IT matters. * Ability to use software to develop and analyze large amounts of data. * Ability to apply a strategic perspective to improve IT functions. **Required Experience** * Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems or a related field and 2-5 years of experience in a similar field or position. Use Microsoft .NET, SQL Server/T-SQL, XML/SXLT, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Analysis Services, and SQL Server Reporting Services.
