Responsibilities
  • Responsible for collection and resolution of disputed reinsurance recoverable balances for all portfolios. Provides support to Office of General Counsel on Ceded arbitration or litigation.
  • Recommend dispute resolution plan to management including any potential dispute provision. Collaborate with Reinsurance Specialist to ensure any approved dispute provision is recorded in the system timely and accurately
  • Directly involved in the collection of more complex reinsurance recoverable balances, including providing substantive analysis of claim and reinsurance issues, where necessary.
  • Provides training and guidance relative to substantive claim issues to Reinsurance Specialists
  • Researches large net balances for potential collectible reinsurance.
  • Assists in the management of reinsurer audits for all portfolio’s consistent with prescribed audit protocols
  • Continually look for improvements in workflow and procedures and make implementation recommendations to manager.
  • Provides support as needed to internal audit inquiries.
  • Identifies major changes in incurred and outstanding loss reserves, prepares reports for managerial review and assessment
  • Provides support as needed to internal audit inquiries.
  • Provides support to commutation team

Ideal Candidate
  • Understanding of underlying direct claims, including coverage issues and allocation analysis
  • Understanding of reinsurance contracts, both treaty and facultative
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Must have sound analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to work effectively with reinsurers, peers and management
  • Must have sound negotiation skills
  • Good organizational skills are required. Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple assignments or projects simultaneously and meets established deadline
  • Ability to interview candidates for positions, provide feedback to direct reports and train in a one on one setting or in small groups
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of database management software (i.e., Access and Outlook) and application software (i.e., MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required
  • High level of competency with reinsurance systems
  • Strong mathematical skills

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience

Required Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in reinsurance collections and or 4+ years APH claim handler experience
