Bioinformatics Analyst

Recombine is here to simplify genetic testing for you. We manage all aspects of genetic testing, from sample collection to genetic counseling. Our goal is to ensure genetic information is delivered in an accurate, informative and responsible manner.

* The daily work entails next generation sequencing processing and quality control, as * well as long-term duties including novel targeted panel design and computational * pipeline management. The position requires daily work monitoring data from batches of * NGS results, parsing NGS results to detect negative batch effects and abnormal results, * working with our engineering team to build web site specific features to visualize and * interpret NGS data, and ensuring integrity of reported results. Long-term duties of this * employee will be to design new tests, develop novel quality control mechanisms, and * implement new QC measures into our pipeline. We strongly encourage you to lead new * research projects that could improve the way NGS data is analyzed.

* M.Sc. with 2+ years work experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or * Computer Science with significant computational experience * Basic knowledge about molecular biology and genomics * Proficient in R, Python and Linux/Unix/Mac environment * Experience in analyzing next generation sequencing data * Working knowledge of statistics and/or machine learning * Familiar with commonly used databases and bioinformatics tools for NGS data * Analysis (eg. bedtools, samtools, IGV, annovar, bowtie, GATK, ChimeraScan, * UCSC Genome Browser, etc.) * Experience with R, Java, HTML/CSS and SQL is preferred * Experience in microarray data analysis is a plus * Ability to thrive in fast-pace, multicultural teams * You have to be currently based in New York area and available for an in person interview.
