Project Drawdown
(Sausalito, California)Project Drawdown describes when and how humanity can reach climate drawdown, the point at which greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere begin to decline on a year-to-year basis, by mapping and modeling how one hundred existing, substantive solutions can continue to scale over the next three decades.
The Development Director will be responsible for designing and managing a comprehensive and creative fundraising strategy. He or she will work closely with Directors Paul Hawken, Chad Frischmann, and Amanda Joy Ravenhill, as well as their extended networks, to set development goals, oversee the creation of grant and development materials, engage new and existing funders, and improve systems for attracting supporters.
- Create and execute a fundraising plan, implementing a variety of development vehicles, including events, campaigns, and crowdfunding initiatives.
- Manage correspondences and ongoing relationships with potential and existing donors
- Process donation checks
- Proactively brainstorm and execute grants, proposals, campaign ideas, and other fundraising tools
- Support leadership team in building the Project Drawdown coalition and strengthening existing coalition relationships
- Plan and oversee inspirational events for coalition building and fundraising
- Develop and maintain accurate records of funders, proposals, and reports, ensuring all grant requirement are completed in a timely manner
- Report on impact and effectiveness of the development campaigns
- 7+ years experience with fundraising, grant writing, partnership building, etc. Proven success in development efforts for a non profit, and fundraising from multiple donor channels
- Existing relationships with philanthropists and foundations
- Skilled in effectively synthesizing data and creating concise, high quality reports and presentations, including experience with data visualization and creating graphics
- Experience in climate change, environmental science, or related field
- Experience in market forecasting, economic/business analysis, or related field
- Excellent project management skills, and capability with meeting deadlines and working with large groups of people
- Bachelor’s degree, with a strong preference toward a Master’s in business, environmental science, economics, or related field
