Summary
Provides direct patient care to include; speech, language, and swallowing therapy to patients upon physician referral in accordance with all laws, regulations, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Involved in community health matters/projects as appropriate - Must work under the direct supervision of a licensed SLP-CCC or SLP-CFY - Serves as a liaison to patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs - Possess the ability to make independent decisions using good reasoning skills and judgement when circumstances warrant such action - Knowledgeable of rehab practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing rehab functions in the long-term care facility - Possess willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel - Ability to implement company policies, programs, goals, objectives, including procedures of the Rehab department - Ability to assist in the evacuation of patients - Exercise good body mechanics at all times - Ability to establish, assess, and modify realistic, measureable, timely, and functional goals - Ability to oversee and evaluate care given by SLP-CFYs and Rehab Aides - Ability to follow speech therapy treatment plans for patient under direction of the supervising CCC/SLP - Ability to document therapy evaluations and treatments accurately and timely - Must be able to utilize therapy software and equipment appropriately and accurately - Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language - Ability to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team

Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. **Education and Experience** - Must be a graduate of an accredited program in speech therapy (minimum MS or MA SLP) - One year's experience in long-term care or related setting preferred - Certified Clinical Instructor preferred **Computer Skills** * PC proficient (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) **Certificates, Licenses, Registrations** - Must be currently registered/licensed in applicable state. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment - Must be ASHA certified (CCCs) or must be eligible for 9-month Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) in order to earn ASHA certification (CCCs) and/or meet ASHA credentialing criteria. Once achieved, must maintain ASHA credentialing - Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
