Unit Production Manager

PQ Corporation is a leading global producer of silicate, zeolite, and other performance materials serving the detergent, pulp and paper, chemical, petroleum, catalyst, water treatment, construction, and beverage markets. Our chemical products are complemented by those of our former subsidiary Potters Industries, a leading producer of engineered glass materials serving the highway safety, polymer additive, metal finishing, and conductive particle markets.

• Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Schedule production, including inventory control and consistency/quality control of product.
• Schedule and monitor preventative maintenance.
• Manage fixed and variable cost budgets.
• Manage/coordinate capital projects.
• Supervise plant staff.
• Develop and implement continuous improvement concepts and employee empowerment in the facility.

• BS in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline required with a minimum of 7 years management experience in chemical manufacturing preferred. Experience in a union environment highly desirable.
• Proven track record of leadership and interpersonal skills, to develop employees individually and as a team. Strong background in the development of teams for root cause analysis and solution development.
• Proven ability in process improvement and yield enhancement. Experience in management and control of variable and fixed cost budgets necessary. Capital project management experience desirable.
• Working knowledge of safety, health, and environmental procedures desirable.
