Summary
Working under direction of the print engineering manager, this position is responsible for all Pactiv Paper printing and die cutting processes, equipment and related systems. Performs a variety of engineering work in the planning, design, installation, start-up, training, and auditing of printing/cutting equipment and systems project work, with a focus on optimization of overall productivity results. Must work closely with plant staff, management and outside resources.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the development of Capital Authorization Requests in the printing/cutting area. Documentation to include technical and performance requirements as required to support business case. * Scope, develop and direct design, installation and start-up of printing/cutting capex projects including engineering specifications, contract bids and awards, project management and equipment start up including all necessary training. * Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of long-term asset maintenance and annual capital budgets for printing and cutting equipment and systems. * Independently investigate and propose new technologies for application to existing and future printing and cutting manufacturing needs. * Work closely with EH&S to achieve and maintain business targets in printing and cutting for safety, environmental, permits and other compliance requirements. * Provide plants with expertise, including development, positioning and use of external resources to effectively diagnose and resolve printing and cutting related problems and improvement needs. * Regularly audit, evaluate, and provide plants with training programs to achieve maximum operational efficiency on the printing/cutting lines, including transfer and implementation of best practice. * Provide on-site engineering support for all major installation and equipment modifications and overhauls. * May direct other project/process engineers in printing system related projects. * Maintain and update Pactiv Paper printing and cutting capacity equipment inventory and asset listing. * Assist with administrative aspects of capex projects including spend tracking, CWIP close and asset disposition. * Prepare printing /cutting system feasibility studies including industrial engineering and engineering economics in addition to technical evaluations. * Responsible for obtaining, developing and maintaining all applicable technical documentation including drawings, manuals and procedures for printing/die cutting related systems.
Ideal Candidate
* BA/BS degree required, preferably in Chemical/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial engineering * 4+ years of experience in paper and printing * Platen and rotary die cutting paperboard experience * Gravure and flexographic experience * Working knowledge of registration systems * Must be able to travel 70%+ * Possess excellent project problem solving skills * Good communicator * Self-starter requiring minimal direct supervision * SAP knowledge
