Summary
Manage, analyze, and find reduction opportunities for excess inventory for a group of Distribution Centers (DC). Implements and executes plans for the inventory reduction. Collaborates with purchasing analysts and suppliers to determine the most appropriate action for excess. Works with the sales teammates, general managers and customer service to proactively ensure customers purchase product brought in specifically for an account in a timely manner. Partners with suppliers to execute vendor returns. Has a basic understanding and uses the JDA replenishment planning system. Uses the Decision Support System (DSS) or the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to build and run reports for determining and providing relevant information for excess inventory. Responsible for executing Internal Branch Transfer (IBT) activity for reallocating excess to other DC's. This positions reports to the Purchasing Manager.
Responsibilities
* Manages the following activities in JDA: * a. Posting items to 6Y1 (view in JDA replenishment planning system) item excess designation * b. Checking for and removing any unneeded Customer Dedicated Orders or fixed safety stock * c. Review JDA sales forecasts for accuracy to ensure the inventory is actually in an excess situation * d. Run 'On Hand', 'No sales', and 'First in Still Here' reports * Prioritizes excess item actions across DC's, vendors, cost, and space. * Builds and maintains excess inventory tracking programs. Ensures we are able to report on all actions started, actions in process, actions completed with resolution, and actions with final solution. Included would be exception reports for actions that are past deadline or with no resolution. * Executes the IBT internal purchase order process for excess items identified by the team. Ensures that costs are allocated correctly and that receiving DC is aware of the product being sent to them. * Manages special excess inventory projects, i.e. Large customer losses with the associated product buy outs. * Executes vendor returns. Ensures that all associated costs are understood and communicated to operations and purchasing teams. * Coordinates with the DC General Manager all product write-offs based on excess information, like the excess under $100 report. * Actively works with the Amazon Marketplace team to determine if Amazon is a viable channel to move excess product. * Builds and runs project specific DSS, EDW, JDA excess inventory reports as needed. * Maintains a good understanding of JDA forecasting and replenishment functions in order to determine accurate excess inventory status. * May buy merchandise from other DCs when appropriate to proactively move excess inventory. **Supplemental Job Functions:** * Performs additional duties as directed.
Ideal Candidate
Education and Experience Required: * Four year university degree required * Five to seven years of relevant experience required * Or an equivalent combination of education and experience **Knowledge Skills and Abilities:** * Good interpersonal skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Solid planning and organizational skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to independently seek issue resolution * Strong follow-up skills * PC/Systems skills & knowledge: MS Word & Excel & Access * Customer service oriented
