Senior Software Engineer

A small team within Outbrain R&D is looking for an organized, experienced Senior Software Engineer to help us continue to build and simplify the experience across our platform. We are seeking creative engineers who think outside of the box, solve complex problems pragmatically, execute quickly, and innovate – curious individuals who want to create something exciting every day. This is a unique platform that processes, analyzes, and learns web and social traffic for thousands of the biggest news sites around the world. Our clients rely on us to provide analysis and suggest actions that maximize their reach and keep readers engaged for longer. As part of our engineering team, you have the opportunity to take part in designing and building the ultimate real time analytics platform for editors.

* Work in small, agile teams, designing & developing new features for an existing, large­scale, Java­based analytics system * Collaborate with team to identify, prioritize and document detailed product requirements * Drive continual improvement to system architecture and application code * Lead development efforts in optimization of existing systems (scalability, reliability, availability)

* Expert Java programming skills, experience using Spring * 5+ years of Java­based server­side software engineering * Advertising technology industry experience a must * Knowledge of Big Data technologies and NoSQL such as Cassandra and Kafka * Experiences in MapReduce programming on open source frameworks such as Spark and/or Hadoop * Experiences in realtime computation system such as Storm or Spark Streaming * Excellent applied optimization skills (application performance optimization, query optimization, system optimization, stress/load testing, etc.) * Experiences in AWS environment * B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent
