Summary
Responsible for evaluating and designing transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs.
Responsibilities
* Research and analyze freight costs and classifications, delivery methods and delivery schedules for the most efficient and lowest cost delivery to meet customer requirements. * Negotiate vendor contracts within established guidelines, referring contracts outside of guidelines to next higher level of authority. * Monitor vendor performance and resolve vendor performance issues through negotiation or by termination and replacement. * Schedule daily shipments to customers both within and without the state; combining delivery loads to minimize partial load deliveries. * Resolve issues with lost or damaged shipments by arranging for replacements or appropriate credits within established limits, referring exceptional resolutions to the next higher level of authority. * Maintain detailed and accurate records of shipments. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Associate’s degree in transporation, logistics, or related field, or equivalent knowledge, skills and ability * Five years or more negotiating vendor contracts * Five years or more scheduling shipments * Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
