Summary
The Credit and Data Analytics teams at OnDeck are responsible for the models and policies that drive our success in the industry. Through our data-driven approach, our models and tools sift through thousands of data points to (i) target businesses via marketing, (ii) evaluate & quantify the financial health of our applicants, (iii) enable prudent credit risk management, and (iv) provide an industry leading customer experience. The team combines model building experience with a strong focus on software engineering best practices to ensure our models can be deployed in production and impact the day to day functioning of our business. We are seeking Senior Data Scientists to develop new strategies to extend credit to millions of small businesses across the country. We’re seeking inquisitive minds looking to reshape the face of small business lending by digging deep into the mountains of data that traditional banks have overlooked. Our team derives insights that direct multi-million dollar customer acquisition strategies, lending algorithms, and product features.
Responsibilities
* Build the innovative statistical and machine learning models that drive every user’s interaction with OnDeck * Make a direct and tangible impact on OnDeck’s explosive growth * Develop and test new strategies alongside multiple stakeholders and technology teams * Implement complex predictive models and strategies in OnDeck’s state of the art decisioning platform * Develop creative solutions to bring OnDeck’s analytical tools to new markets and products * Work with our extensive small business database in Spark on AWS to build relevant datasets that inform our marketing, sales and credit efforts * Use these datasets to build predictive models (regression, random forests, naïve bayes etc) that inform our customer acquisition and loan processing processes * Work closely with the data engineering team to ensure your models are robust, can be refreshed automatically and are continuously tested and being pushed to production
Ideal Candidate
* You have a Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field (statistics, math, engineering, economics, etc) * 4+ years of experience in modeling/analytics roles within the technology or financial services industries * Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and working with very large datasets * Expertise using SQL, R and/or Python * Experience with R/Python machine learning implementations, Unix/Linux scripting, object oriented programming a plus * Ability to manage input and expectations across a diverse group of stakeholders * Strong communication and data visualization skills; comfort communicating complex analyses to a variety of audiences
