Responsibilities
* Assist the Maintenance Manager in implementing solutions to operational systems and related support systems. * Assists in analyzing planned systems to ensure the most efficient and cost effective installation to maximize reliability and efficiency of electrical generation at the facility.
Ideal Candidate
* Demonstrate an in depth knowledge of power plant operation and systems. * Ability to ensure the identification of design deficiencies on all systems which would contribute to the risk of forced and/or partial outages. * Design/review specific engineering solutions to remedy any deficiencies and implement corrective measure in conjunction with other location departments/corporate support. * Ability to write specifications for high voltage electrical support and improvement. * Provide technical support for critical plant equipment-particularly turbine generators, transformers, motors and switchgear. * Support electrical reliability program, including ability to analyze past data and develop long range maintenance program. * Provide support in development of long range maintenance and plant improvement initiatives including plant operated 345/138kV switchgear, associated oil filled underground cable and pumping stations. * Assist in project management oversight as required, providing support and direction to both Station and contractor forces as appropriate. Ensure compliance with all project safety, environmental and contractual responsibilities. * Demonstrate the ability to deliver projects on schedule and under budget. * Procure parts, materials, services and support resolution of technical issues. * Assume support role during station overhauls and outages. * Assist with NERC compliance and required reporting. * Familiarity with relay, DFR, and PLC controllers strongly desired. * Familiarity with analog and digital process controls strongly desired. * Ability to fill in as ICE Tech. Supervisor as required while regular supervisor is out. Requires interfacing with IBEW union personnel. * Ensure that all modifications to existing systems are properly recorded. This includes revising prints and drawings as well as identifying systems for which documentation is non-existent. Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus. * Ensure that new installation or modifications to existing systems are supported by proper documentation, operating instructions and training materials. Ensure that specific PM schedules are developed and implemented with support from responsible area. * Ability to write or assist in the preparation of Technical Specifications. * Perform routine field inspections and develop reports as required. * Ability to develop power point presentations as required. * Provide a high level of professionalism and technical expertise. * Demonstrate a commitment to safety, health and the environment. * Ability to travel domestically as required. **Required Skills & Education:** * Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university required. * Be familiar with High/Medium/Low Voltage Electrical safety requirements. * Experience in Power Plant related equipment and system testing and troubleshooting. * Minimum of 3 years’ power plant experience.
