Mutual Fund Accounting Specialist

The Mutual Fund Accounting Specialist performs daily accounting and financial reporting, including daily mutual fund net asset value and yield calculations, for Northwestern Mutual Series Funds.

* perform daily valuation of each fund's inventory of stocks, bonds and derivatives * prepare material accounting entries and maintain fund's accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash and margin accounts * perform daily review of dividend and interest payments * coordinate with brokers/portfolio managers on fair value of fund securities * analyze/verify amortization and related bond yields identify, research and take action to balance differences within accounting system, cash accounts and asset security positions * prepare monthly reconciliations * prepare/report financial results for fund investments * prepare financial reports for policy owners; prepare regulatory filings * review portfolio holdings for compliance with SEC/IRS regulations.

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field * Two years of prior accounting experience * Strong oral and written communication skills * Demonstrated superior analytical and problem solving ability * High degree of self motivation and proven ability to meet strict daily deadlines * Proven ability to work with a high degree of accuracy * Displays a professional attitude and is able to work well under pressure with some direction * Ability to effectively prioritize work and resolve routine problems * Advanced Microsoft applications experience * Shows ability to retrieve and utilize information from accounting system and other sources
