Summary
The position's general responsibilities include supporting the IT development efforts or the branch by performing software development functions in a small project setting.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and support Laboratory Diagnostic Databases: includes routine maintenance and major revisions of these databases; involves object oriented programming with .net technologies (Visual Studio 2005), Access(2003, 2007, 2010), Microsoft Sql Server(2000, 2005), and possibly web-based systems. Typically involves creating T-SQL Statements, stored procedures, triggers, views. * Maintain and support Epidemiologic studies and create and maintain databases and code application front ends on an as-needed basis to support current and future epidemiologic studies; typically involves object oriented programming with .NET technologies (Visual Studio2005) and/or Microsoft Access programming but may involve SQL server(2000, 2005), web-based applications, basic personal computer issues, and other tools. * Develop and support ongoing documentation efforts to comply with internal HHS/CDC informatics standards, methodologies, and processes. Comply with 508, SDLC, EPLC, Security, and Operational standards.
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** * Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience or a Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems * Some knowledge in system design, system analysis, and business analysis experience. * Experience with MS Access and MS SQL Server, C#.NET, .NE, C#, Java, SQL Server, TSQL, Reporting Services. * Strong ability to interact with scientists, end users, other developers, external partners, and management to determine system parameters and requirements throughout the development life cycle. * Ability to interact with scientists, end users, other developers, external partners, and management to determine system parameters and requirements throughout the development life cycle. * Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card holder **Preferred Qualifications:** * Knowledge in a public health environment * Experience in a government environment. * General knowledge of infectious diseases.
