HERE, a global Mapping and Traffic services company is seeking a talented Research Intern interested and capable of creative analysis of dynamic content, real-time traffic and event data in a geographic mapping context as part of a cloud-based Traffic Processing for Connected Driving cars.

The Traffic and Dynamic content Research team develops algorithms for massive real-time event processing and Big Data analytical systems in cloud environment. In this role, the successful candidate will be participating in the research and development of the fundamental data analytics, processing algorithms and development of key intellectual property, new products and proofs of concept in support of the Traffic and Dynamic Content division.

• Development of algorithms for use in cloud-based data analysis, both streaming and batch.
• Product Innovation and Implementation of Proof of concepts.
• Support of transition of research findings and algorithms through deployment to production

• PhD or MS graduate student in a quantitative field.
• Experience with advanced statistical analysis of large data sets.
• Ability to design algorithms and implement Proof of Concepts in Java or C++
• Proficient in at least one scripting language; PHP, Perl, Python, Javascript
• Excellent team player with the ability to work within a collaborative environment
• Creative, resourceful and innovative problem solver

Desired Skills

• Self-taught and self-teaching, with a demonstrated aptitude for acquiring knowledge and skills
• Familiarity with Machine learning and Graphical Models
• Data analysis and Big Data systems: Hadoop, Hive, Pig, SQL, R
• Data visualization skills such as GraphViz, R, Tableau, Javascript, VTK is a plus
