Summary
The Nextdoor team is excited to hire our first dedicated User Researcher! This is a unique opportunity for an experienced researcher to own and build our program. In this critical role, you will collaborate with the entire product development organization to build deep user empathy and make Nextdoor a magical experience for neighbors around the world. We are looking for someone who is innately curious, passionate about user experience design, and an expert communicator. As a data driven pragmatist, you should excel at both qualitative and quantitative research and love designing and executing thoughtful user research. Most of all, you should be passionate about delivering actionable insights that will drive quick decisions and fuel product improvements for our members.
Responsibilities
* Identify and prioritize product and member questions by working with product, design, and leadership stakeholders * Plan, collect, and analyze user research through a variety of channels * Engage teams in the research process and communicate key insights effectively to all levels of the organization * Enable teams to use research as an input for product strategy and new functionality * Establish guidelines and techniques that enable Nextdoor’s product teams to easily integrate research into the project lifecycle * Act as an internal evangelist for member and product research
Ideal Candidate
* 5+ years of relevant work experience, including experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices * Strong understanding of various research methods that address member behavior and product usability * Desire to be “hands-on” driving research projects from developing scripts and screeners through synthesizing and sharing findings * Effectively analyze and present findings to influence product design decisions * Ability to work on both long-term, strategic projects as well as quick research studies * Proven ability to synthesize and share research visually, verbally, and in writing * Highly motivated by the challenge of helping to improve Nextdoor’s design and member experience * Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Social Science, Psychology, or related field
