Summary
We are seeking our first Senior Accountant to join our growing team at Nextdoor. In this role, you’ll own and play a significant role in all international accounting functions, as well as help to define processes, procedures, and future expansion. You should have strong international accounting knowledge, immaculate attention to detail, and experience and comfort working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing startup environment. Responsibilities
* Own current and future international finance operations * Process and prepare day-to-day accounting functions for international entities (accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and other core accounting functions) * Own and complete month-end close process for all current (UK and Netherlands) and future international entities * Reconcile all intercompany accounts worldwide * Translate financial statements from local currencies to USD for all entities * Support U.S. HQ accounting functions * Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, AR billings, AP review, Expensify support, and treasury management * Participate in annual budgeting cycle and ongoing reforecast; build and maintain a complex financial model * Assist in reviewing and negotiating key legal contracts * Act as a business partner with all other teams across the company to build scalable processes and drive best practices such as improving monetization and revenue billing process
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in financial accounting * 4+ years industry experience with at least 2+ years working directly with international operations; high-growth startup experience is highly preferred * Impeccable ethics across all aspects of accounting and finance * Excellent communication skills: written, oral, presentation, in-person and on the phone * Attentive to complex details, and able to conduct technical accounting research and make sound proposals * Strong problem solving skills, ability to organize and complete large-scale projects, and a knack for making effective process improvements * Strong system skills – Excel, Quickbooks Online, Expensify, and other comparable systems * Experience in working with external auditors is a big plus * Passion for the Nextdoor mission and core values * Self-motivated, extremely curious, diligent and ability to work independently
