Responsibilities
- Communicate with staff or clients to understand specific system requirements. - Provide advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes. - Document design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information. - Verify stability, interoperability, portability, security, or scalability of system architecture. - Collaborate with engineers or software developers to select appropriate design solutions or ensure the compatibility of system components. - Provide technical guidance or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems. - Identify system data, hardware, or software components required to meet user needs. - Monitor system operation to detect potential problems. - Perform all other related duties, as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and/or commensurate experience. - 3+ years working with enterprise level Linux servers, monitoring and storage. - Familiarity with networking equipment such as switches, firewalls and load balancers from Cisco, Juniper and F5. - Working knowledge of PHP and Perl. - Expertise with Linux Servers particularly Redhat or CentOS. - Expertise with Apache, MySQL, Bash Scripting, Security and Monitoring Tools. - Expertise with Puppet configuration and maintenance. - Being cognizant of Systems Security. - Fluent written communication and verbal agility. - Working knowledge of PCI-DSS is a plus. - Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. - Good communication skills. - Genuine passion for solving problems related to scalability, performance, security and redundancy. - Working knowledge of source control repositories like GIT. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions - The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). - General office conditions. Tools used - Enterprise hardware (Rack servers, SAN, load balancers, networking) - Linux-based servers and services – Web, Application, FTP, SMTP, Puppet - Linux-based monitoring systems - Jira and Confluence for task and project management
