The OnCommand Insight software group at NetApp is seeking to hire an experienced cloud engineer to help us design and build a global SaaS management solution for DataCenter and Application infrastructure of major enterprise customers. This is a hands on position where the ideal candidate is expected to not only help design the architecture, but also to build and implement it. The ideal candidate has worked “in the trenches” on a major SaaS offering and has the experience and knowledge needed to avoid common design and implementation pitfalls. Strong expertise in Java and relevant cloud technologies is a requirement.

* Assist / lead design of OCI running as a full SaaS solution in public cloud environments. * Provide expert level guidance reviewing key open source Cloud technology choices and make recommendations on integration paths into OCI architecture. * Provide expert level guidance on key operational requirements for SaaS solution, including deployment, monitoring, development methodologies, etc. * Implement code in support of the points above. * Participate in full software development lifecycle including coding, code reviews, unit test development, bug triage/fixing, etc.

**Requirements:** * 10+ years of software development experience. * 3+ years of experience serving in a technical role for a large SaaS product. Should have participated in both design and implementation in these roles. * Expert level Java experience. * Advanced or expert level experience in a significant variety of open source cloud technologies and platforms. Examples include, but may not be limited to: Elastic Search, Cassandra, MongoDB, Hadoop, Spark, RabbitMQ, Kafka, AWS, Azure, MySQL, etc. * Developer level Linux platform experience. * Excellent spoken and written communication skills. * Ability to estimate work completion required to build an overall predictable plan.- High level of understanding of modern hardware/software tools and how these may be used to improve the development process * Develop longer-range project plans and schedules to complete complex projects or new product development * Strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and standard programming practices * Use judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for successful results * Creative and analytical approach to problem solving **Responsibility and Interaction:** - Coordinates the activities of other engineers, serves as a project lead, and/or is a recognized expert in a major technical area (for example, performance, standards compliance, internationalization) - Responsible for unstructured complex tasks that have wide implications - Be an integral technical advisor to engineering management and other engineers - Contribute, explicitly or by example, to the standards and processes used by NetApp for product development - Work with teams across the company in problem solving and design efforts. - Apply broad expertise or unique technical/industry knowledge in solving problems that are unique and extremely complex given time, budget and resource constraints. Demonstrate leadership and vision in determining and driving strategy decisions - Works frequently with suppliers, partners or other external parties in product design efforts. Communicates with customers about existing (and less often new) product directions and technology - Work effectively with staff to vice-president level employees within the function, across functions and with external parties - Limited supervision is provided, as this individual can operate, drive results, and set priorities independently. **Education & Experience:** - A minimum of 12 years of experience is required - A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required - Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects
