Summary
Work with senior portfolio managers to provide continuous oversight of a designated group of portfolio names which includes monitoring for potential upgrading, downgrading and credit deterioration with the goal of maximizing net income and reducing credit costs.
Responsibilities
**Portfolio Management: (50%)** * Manage credit process of designated portfolio by analyzing its credit risk, preparing detailed credit analysis and credit applications, determining accurate ratings and making recommendations of accurate and timely ratings to management. * Responsible for coordination and communication of account information and ensuring that the credit process progresses effectively with applicable local offices and internal credit related divisions. * Function as a subject expert with regard to particular industries/industry subsectors and maintain most updated knowledge on assigned industries through internal/external sources and direct communication with the borrowers. **Advanced Credit/Underwriting Solutions: (30%)** * Prescreen proposed transactions to identify critical structural issues and risks, balancing institutional policy with business development needs. * Handle quantitative work required to structure transactions (including securitizations, etc.) * Work as a member of deal team to identify business opportunities, including business referred to MUFG. Advise Relationship Managers on credit risk issues/terms and conditions to create a best possible deal with a goal of maximizing profit and minimizing credit cost. * Attend bank meetings and client calls when appropriate **Policy and Deal Advocacy: (20%)** * Support policy development by participating in committees, project teams, or transaction discussion; * Ensure compliance with policy, risk strategy and regulatory requirements; * Coordinate with CDA for review of transactions. * Special projects as required
Ideal Candidate
* 2 or more years of related work experience * Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or economics * Formal credit training is a plus. * Strong quantitative as well as qualitative analytical skills * Knowledge of the economic and political environments of the Latin American countries. * Proficiency in English (oral and written), and strong writing skills. * Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese language preferred, some proficiency required * Able to work independently and under pressure.
