The successful candidate will be the lead analyst for a portfolio of US life insurance companies. In that role, the candidate will evaluate the credit risk of these entities and the environment in which they operate. Responsibilities will also include managing issuer relationships at the "C"-executive level, writing timely, thought provoking and comprehensive research on individual issuers as well as the industry sector, and frequently interacting with investors and intermediaries. An ability to confidently interact with internal and external parties is therefore a prerequisite for this role. He or she will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in Moody's offices around the world as needed in addition to the New York office.
- • Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data for assigned companies, and bringing these credits to rating committee on a timely basis.
- Presenting credits effectively and comprehensively in rating committees and other internal analytical meetings, as well as actively participating in rating committees led by other analysts.
- Conducting credit research and writing credit opinions; special comments; short, timely pieces on important industry/issuer developments; and other research as directed or approved by management.
- Interacting with senior company executives, investors, intermediaries and press/media.
- Building and maintaining relationships with investors, issuers, and other market participants.
- Presenting in public forum Moody's credit opinions.
- Mentoring junior staff on the US Life insurance team.
- The successful candidate will have strong financial analysis and communication abilities, and be effective at multi-tasking given the varied responsibilities and fluid environment.
- He or she will preferably have a professional actuarial designation, or have earned an MBA in finance or be a CPA, and will also preferably have 7-10 years of credit analysis experience, with a strong working knowledge of the life insurance sector.
- The candidate should also possess sufficient expertise to become the team's subject matter expert in certain life insurance/annuity products, reserving practices, capital models, ERM and other relevant area(s) critical to credit analysis and responding to investor questions.
