Summary
The AVP - Test Environment Manager will be responsible for managing the overall usage, maintenance, and delivery of the various controlled environments (QA, Performance Testing, and Staging) within Moody's Information Technology (MIT). The winning candidate will be expected to manage and track deliverables from our outsourced L1/L2 support partners. In addition, we are implementing a strategic roadmap to mature the services in the test environment management space. The successful candidate will be expected to help manage the execution of the strategic roadmap as well as adjust to business needs for maximum efficiency. The domain involves management of external (onsite/offshore) resources.
Responsibilities
* Work with QA, Project and Release Managers to coordinate environmental needs for the various controlled environments (QA, Performance Testing, Staging, UAT, etc). * Act as Moody's control tower for environments (much like an air traffic controller in airports) providing plans, tracking and approval for environmental deployments. * Liaise with development teams and Infrastructure Services to ensure efficient usage of infrastructure components. * Liaise with Build Managers, Development teams, DBA's and Infrastructure Services to ensure that TEMG (Test Environment Management Group) provides the proper support during/post deployments and testing * Create project plans and coordinate activities specific to environmental build outs, refreshes and upgrades. * Identify environmental contentions and work with appropriate parties to address these issues in a timely manner. * Document the various environments and keep environmental diagrams up to date. * Ensure environments are maintained with the appropriate data sets for testing and production support efforts. * Design a tracking procedure that allows all parties to identify exactly what version and what components. (application code, hardware, software, database, middleware etc) resides in every environment. * Keep up to date the CMDB - a database that lists all environment components organized by hardware, by application, by environment. * Ensure that environmental deployments are carried out according to defined procedures (For example: up to date Release Notes are provided). * Work closely with Infrastructure Services to ensure environment availability, stability and functional readiness. * Management environments Forward Schedule of Change (FSC) for all controlled environments. * Actively manage and identify opportunities to optimize existing processes and usage for overall cost savings (i.e. - server consolidation, multi-application environments, etc.) * Lead environments management optimization efforts to increase environments availability and stability. * Own the process to ensure end-to-end test environment consistency (both application and infrastructure) for his/her area of responsibility. * Manage test environment incidents and escalation processes. * Manage the end to end (E2E) test environments scheduling process while ensuring no negative user impact. * Devise effective support model that optimizes vendor resource utilization
Ideal Candidate
- 3-5 years project management/coordination experience - 3-5 years experience within Infrastructure. - A bachelor’s degree or higher in MIS, IT, computer science, or related discipline. - Experience and understanding of the principles applied in Infrastructure deployments and refreshes, software configuration & build management and quality assurance processes. - Effective at designing compelling presentations in PowerPoint - Experience managing consultant resources (offshore and onsite). - Experience managing application/resource support transition from one vendor to another (a plus). - Experience/ability to lead meetings with Senior IT Executives. - PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred. - ITIL v3 certification preferred. - Experience managing very busy testing environment schedules. - Experience in Infrastructure solutions design across various platforms. - Experience working in a high pressure environment - Knowledge of application and infrastructure concepts and technologies: *Databases: Sybase, MS SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 *Middleware/Other: JBoss, Informatica, FileNet, ICS, and Cognos *Concepts: Database Replication, ETL, DST, Control-M, hardware profiles, application / hardware monitoring - Ability to quickly understand systems from an end to end architectural perspective. - Ability to understand data flow across 100+ applications. - Ability to read and understand architecture, network and database design documents. - Self-starter - Results orientation - Excellent communication skills - May have to work nights and weekends per business needs
