Responsibilities
**Essential Functions** * Under physician supervision, evaluates referred patients and designs/implements plan of care based on physician preferences, patient functioning, diagnosis, treatment, self-management and access to health care resources. * Documents evaluations and plans of care. * Delivers physical care to patients following medical direction including monitoring of patient response and results during care. * Instructs patient and/or family members in treatment, activities and home care based on physician preferences. * Provides preventative education and counseling to patients, families and groups regarding health maintenance, normal body function, injury prevention, strength and conditioning. * The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to this position. **Other Duties and Responsibilities** * Stays abreast of and complies with all state and federal laws including HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, and FLSA. * Performs duties of co-workers and subordinates as workload dictates. * Completes special projects as assigned. **Positions Supervised** * None
Ideal Candidate
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** * Knowledge of new ATC/medical practices and current literature appropriate to role, and how to use instructional/presentation techniques. * Ability to develop appropriate program materials and standards for wide variety of patients, act as an information and treatment resource and provide in-service training and communicate appropriately with athletes, families, coaches, athletic directors, co-workers and the community. * Skill in effectively evaluating and revising plan of care based on changes in patient status and individual’s response to treatment, instructing and demonstrating procedures, and providing emotional reassurance and guidance to patients, families and particularly those adjusting to acute/chronic injuries. * This position description in no manner states or implies that these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the position incumbent. The incumbent will be required to follow the instructions and perform the duties required by the incumbent’s supervisor or designee. **Requirements:** * Bachelor’s degree and graduate of approved N.A.T.A. school. * Minimum of two years clinical experience preferably in medical practice setting, 800 hours clinical as required by N.A.T.A. * Certified Athletic Trainer
