Responsibilities
- Writing modular, scalable, testable HTML, CSS and Javascript code that is clean and standards-compliant and works with Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks - Providing solutions with long-term maintainability and limited technical debt - Applying knowledge of cloud, APIs and browser feature support to design cross browser/device compatible solutions - Evaluating new libraries, frameworks and development standards to determine if they are the right fit for Merck - Leveraging an automated DevOps approach to build, deploy and support projects using modern tools such as Github, AWS, Rails and Chef - Designing robust interfaces to integrate a variety of systems and technologies to solve business problems and create scalable solutions - Documenting architectures and developing strategic approaches to implement scalable, performant solutions from conceptual UX designs - Driving test driven development approaches - Developing deep understanding of Merck’s existing technology platforms and their interfaces as required by project work
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical degree - Proven record of web design and development on projects with the following skills: - Expertise of Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks - Strong technical skills across the entire development stack - Experienced with Agile techniques including Scrum - Excellent object-oriented and test-driven development skills - Detailed knowledge HTTP protocol, HTML5 capabilities, responsive design techniques, modern CSS frameworks/ tools/workflow, design patterns and Javascript MVC frameworks - Front end Design and User Experience Skills and the ability to design beautiful and intuitive interfaces - Expertise building scalable and fault tolerant solutions on AWS infrastructure - Experience with automated build tools and DevOps
