Software Engineer

Factual is a location platform that enables personalized and contextually relevant mobile experiences by enriching mobile location signals with definitive global data.

Factual is looking for an engineer to build out front-end-heavy applications. You’ll be developing and rolling out reactive front ends, big data backends to support them, and everything in between. We’re doing Rails, Node.js, Angular, Bootstrap, Solr, Postgres on AWS. This role is specifically for someone who wants to build interactive web apps (vs data science or backend infrastructure) but because of the scale of the data and query volume, absolutely requires serious CS chops. This position is in Factual’s Los Angeles headquarters. - Work with product and back end engineering teams to develop tools for exploring and visualizing data for our data, ad tech, and mobile personalization products - Develop website demos to help illustrate how our products work - Develop internal reporting tools and other API support tools - Develop high stakes, high volume API features

- CS degree from a competitive university and/or background working for highly selective companies and/or very impressive github portfolio - CSS/HTML/Javascript/jQuery - Mastery of at least one server-side framework (Rails, Node, etc.) - Database experience (SQL and no-SQL) with nontrivial amounts of data - Experience working in a team environment with nontrivial versioning and release processes Nice-to-haves - Client-side framework (Angular.js, Backbone.js, etc.) - Experience with cloud based development (AWS, Heroku, AppEngine, etc.)
