Summary
This position is responsible for the coordination and monitoring of the production facility; ensuring products are produced in proper quantities, meet established quality standards at the lowest possible cost, and are available for shipment to the market place as scheduled.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct supervision and guidance to the Production Shift Managers, Sanitation Supervisor, Packaging Manager and Production Clerk. Assist in establishing goals and objectives that improve production efficiency. * Support the Plant Manager in continuing efforts to develop and implement a Human Resources Management plan that addresses manpower planning and training at all levels. Responsible for motivating, encouraging, and training members of the production team. * Control a favorable safety program through training, inspection, meetings, etc., to achieve improved safety awareness among employees. * Provide direction in conjunction with the Engineering Manager for properly maintaining and operating all equipment. Make suggestions for mechanical revisions to achieve optimum quality products. * Communicate with the Production Scheduler and Purchasing Department to review the scheduled plant production, update any completed items, and set priorities for the following weeks. * Coordinated the efforts of all production departments to effectively accomplish objectives. * Identify and respond to problems, and work toward resolutions in the most expedient and practical way. * Develop and effectively use reporting systems to inform operating and managerial personnel of the factory performance on a timely basis. * Ensure compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices by all personnel, including full-time employees, visitors, temporary employees and contractors. * Position reports directly to the Plant Manager who, in turn, reports to the Operations Director. * The incumbent directly supervises two Production Shift Managers, the Sanitation Supervisor, the Packaging Manager and Production Clerk; indirectly supervises all Production Shift Supervisors. * The incumbent, as a member of the Plant Manager’s staff, must demonstrate managerial ability amongst peers, exhibit a high level of employee relations skill and credibility, and be able to successfully interact with individuals from varying work disciplines and cultural backgrounds. * Will adhere to safety program and participate in monthly behavioral observation program. **Other Job Duties** * Perform other related duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **Education and Experience** * BA/BS degree or the equivalent practical experience in food technology; a complete knowledge of all phases of production line functions on all products (i.e. breading, batter applicators, fryers, freezing operations). * This position requires a minimum of five years experience in managerial position in food processing, including frozen food. * Experience in managing manufacturing operations with a good understanding of the principles of accounting. **Skill and Knowledge** * An ability to teach and train procedures and requirements; the ability to lead and motivate others; experience in labor relations, including grievance procedures. * Understanding of grades of vegetables and variations within these grades. * Problem solving skills are important. Some of the major problems are getting the correct product mix on a finite number of lines with a finite number of personnel and keeping the correct number of full-time and part-time employees, because day to day staffing needs can vary from 20 to 30 percent. Other problems are variability of raw material, employee morale, coordination with support departments, and maintaining good lines of communications with three shifts.
