Summary
The VP of Product Marketing is responsible for insuring that Couchbase's products are successfully introduced and sold into the market on a worldwide basis. Reporting directly to the CMO, this highly impactful and visible role will partner with marketing, sales, and executive teams to set strategic product positioning and messaging to drive go-to-market efforts. In addition this role will be the primary strategist for determining and prioritizing market segments and account targeting for the company. This person will be the market-facing partner to Couchbase's product management team and will have the opportunity to build the product marketing function from the ground up, defining the role of product marketing to fit the needs and objectives of the Company.
Responsibilities
* Owning, driving and delivering the corporate strategy for product marketing into positioning, segmentation, pricing, and packaging strategies for the region. * Perform market research to understand and effectively communicate the market dynamics and customer needs including sizing/segmentation, buying patterns, customer requirements, and competitive landscape. * Determine which market segments to prioritize * Create and tailor product collateral, including white papers, website content, case studies, data sheets and presentations to support outbound communication, demand generation, and sales efforts. * Be a strong advocate for Couchbase’s products and services in industry forums/events, AR activities * Create and communicate effective competitive analysis and positioning (against current and potential competitors) and the associated sales tools
Ideal Candidate
* 8 – 10 years of product marketing experience with at least five in an executive role * Proven track record of successful product launches * Proven track record participating and influencing key analysts and others in the community * Strong strategic thinking, creative problem solving, and analytical skills along with ability to execute * Excellent verbal, written, visual/presentation skills * Undergraduate degree in business/marketing; MBA preferred * Marketing in a start-up environment required
