Summary
Marathon Petroleum Company LP, a major petroleum refiner and marketer, is accepting resumes for an Operations Technician in the Rockford, IL area. This position works with and around petroleum products and is responsible for all operating aspects of a petroleum products terminal. This position will be assigned to a home terminal, but the successful candidate will be expected to cover work at other terminals in the region as required to meet business needs. With an excellent benefits package and competitive starting pay. Entry level for this position is Operations Technician Trainee and level progression is available based on demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Responsibilities
* Troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of a truck loading rack and other facility equipment. * Sampling and laboratory testing of petroleum products. * Storage tank gauging. * Handling the shipment and receipt of petroleum products via pipeline and/or barge/ship. 5. Stair climbing, lifting up to XX pounds and often working outdoors. 6. Preparation of various terminal reports. 7. Completion of all required training. 8. Other varied work assignments.
Ideal Candidate
* Qualified candidates must be motivated, self-starters, able to work independently, and possess an excellent work record with references. Candidates must also be very dependable and be willing to work a flexible schedule as necessary. * High school diploma or GED is required * Proficiency in basic computer skills is required * Proficiency in math and ability to maintain accurate records are required * Associate degree or vocational technical training is preferred * A working knowledge of and previous experience with mechanical and electrical systems is preferred * Process operations, maintenance crafts and/or petroleum industry experience would be beneficial

Working Conditions

Occasional overnight travel , call-outs, and overtime will be required, which will include after business hours and on weekends and holidays. The position may require either a 4- or 5-day workweek or shift work on an as-needed basis,
