Research and Development Food Scientist

Lyons Magnus is an international food and beverage manufacturer headquartered in Fresno, California. This position is an entry level position in the Lyons Magnus R&D team, planning and executing projects that support the company’s innovation process, manufacturing, and product maintenance initiatives.

• Propose and formulate innovative products, processes, and technologies to ensure Lyons continued growth
• Conduct experimentation using a designed approach to validate formulations and processes at the bench and pilot scale before entering production.
• Identify and test new tools, technologies, processes, or ingredients to improve products or manufacturing capabilities.
• Engage with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to ensure that all product formulations, processes, and specifications meet defined standards.
• Document and draw conclusions/next steps from experimental results or production trials.
• Organize and complete shelf life studies of owned projects and formulations
• Further knowledge in new materials, processes, and equipment to enhance the technical understanding of self and R&D team.
• Perform related and assigned duties from department manager, director, or Vice President.
• Thrive in a fast paced and dynamic working environment.

Required Qualifications

• Strong passion for science and creative problem solving.
• Effective written and verbal technical communication with internal customers
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with supervision
• Proficient in basic computer programs including Microsoft Office programs.

Education and/or Experience

1-4 years Food Science experience with a BS degree in Food Science or related field.
