The Sourcing Technology Engineer is responsible for identifying & supporting productivity opportunities/projects in the areas of Technology/Engineering thru various Sourcing Initiatives like Session “S”, Standardization, Material Technology Change, Supplier Fairs, Transfers, Localization, Sole Source & Vitality & support Commodity/Product Sourcing teams on achieving deflation targets on technical/engineering areas.
- Identify technically viable funnels by working closely with Commodity teams & support them building strong funnel & business case.
- Support design reviews with suppliers & P&L, drawings modifications/changes as required with P&L engineering involvement
- Develop validation & verification plan with P&L eng buy in & initiate/implement ECR/ECO as required on deflation projects.
- Coordinate V&V implementation & Parts Classification with strategic supply base & P&L engineering teams
- Good understanding of cost drivers & process drivers of a given commodity parts/sub assemblies
- Hold technical discussions with suppliers to identify the cost reduction opportunities & work with P&Ls team to enable those projects.
- Work cross-functionally with Commodities, Modalities and Product Segments.
Quality Specific Goals:
- Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
- Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
- Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
- Knowledge and understanding of GEHC Purchasing Controls Procedure and associated Work Instructions and operates within them to ensure that all purchased product and services conform to specified requirements.
- Develop and maintaining of fully qualified and compliant supply base.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical discipline, or minimum 5 years work experience in product development/engineering
- Good understanding of V&V process, Engineering change implementation
- Desired process experts in the area’s of Fabrication and Machining, Plastics, Cables & Harnessing, or Circuit Boards or any of them.
- Good knowledge of requirements gathering & project planning
- Experience with Value Engineering, Cost Reduction, Design Optimization, and/or Process Improvement.
- Experience working with suppliers to understand manufacturing practices/cost drivers
- Demonstrated proficiency in conducting technical discussions and working with global teams.
- Willing to travel locally and internationally. Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical discipline
- 5 years of in-depth engineering experience in the areas of product development, design V&V & ECR/ECO
- Desired manufacturing practices and knowledge of in Fabrication and Machining, Plastics, Cables & Harnessing, or Circuit Boards.
- Self Starter, Motivator & works well with cross functional teams, Matrix level
- Excellent communication, influencing and analytical skills with the ability to manage and develop supplier relationships
- Knowledge in Design For Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) best practices
- Expert knowledge of cost estimating software packages (for F&M, Plastics C&H postings)
- Expert knowledge of Customer Value Engineering Tools: Voice of the Customer, CECOR, QFD, Price/Value product space mapping.
- Six Sigma or equivalent certification.
- Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience for product design eMatrix Product Data Management (ePDM).
