Summary
Position Overview: The primary responsibility of the Manager – BQT Kitchen Steward is to manage all operations for assigned departments, including Banquets, ISD, TDR, and Culinary. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities * Manage staff and organize department functions in accordance with company guidelines * Delegate tasks and department assignments or projects, meeting deadlines related to those assignments * Focus on achieving the goals or objectives of the department using available resources (staff and budgetary) * Evaluate the schedule or timelines related to the completion of assignments while maintaining services and/or product quality * Develop staff skills to enhance department effectiveness and manage resources to eliminate excess cost or unnecessary expenditures Key Processes * Assist in scheduling, training, and/or hiring of new team members * Provide proper support to other departments involved in Company success * Ensure monthly team member meetings and pre-shift meetings are productive and occur on a consistent basis * Ensure that all team members are trained on all aspects of the job and are held accountable to maintaining Company values, standards, and policies * Ensure that operating pars are maintained and that operating equipment and work areas are maintained through work orders and requisitions * Ensure that all paperwork and documentation required will be completed at the end of the shift accurately, clearly, and done in a timely manner Financial * Manages assigned operational functions within the department consistent with the strategic plan and vision for the department, the division, and VCR * Manages and monitors fiscal budget, operations of assigned department(s) and marketing strategies to produce both short term and long term profitability for VCR * Managers the delivery and measurement of guest service within assigned department(s) consistent with the company’s core service standards and brand attributes * Provides input into the research, development, evaluation, and implementation of new products, services, technology, and processes to ensure VCR’s competitive position and in anticipation of changing customer needs within the dynamic hospitality and gaming environment Leadership * Manages Human Resources responsibilities for assigned department(s) to include: creating a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction * Manages quality hiring, training, and succession planning processes that encompass the company’s diverse commitment * Manages compliance with Company policies and legal requirements * Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job * Performs other related duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
Minimum Qualifications: * 21 years of age, proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States, high school diploma or equivalent. * Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English, both in oral and written form. * Have interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts. * Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards. * Maintain consistent adherence to the Venetian and Palazzo Unmatched Guest Service Standards. * Work varied shifts, including weekends and holiday Specific Position Requirements: * 3 years banquet culinary training or experience. * Service experience. Sanitation training. Knowledge of safe food handing. * Able to handle multiple tasks. * Complete knowledge of food service front of house. * Able to work varied hours and shifts. * Work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment. * Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines. * Must be able to frequently move freely about the office, maintain manual dexterity to access computer via computer keyboard and operate office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, fax machine, etc. Physical Requirements: * Withstand various activities such as frequent walking, sitting or long periods, and withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, and kneeling without restriction. * Be able to work indoors and be exposed to various environment factors such as, but not limited to, CRT fatigue, noise, dust, cigarette smoke, and be able to access all areas of the property * Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds unassisted in the performance of specific tasks assigned. * Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives. * Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner. * Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness. * Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods
