Our Company
When Frank Lahey, MD, founded a group practice in 1923, his vision was unique: Every component of a patient's health care would be coordinated under one roof. Today, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center still offers a distinctive patient experience. With its longstanding culture of specialized teams directly available to individual patients, and a work ethic that combines the highest competence with the utmost compassion, Lahey is unique among medical centers and teaching hospitals-because Lahey teams do more than care for you. They treat you right. Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is a physician-led, nonprofit group practice. More than 500 physicians and 5,000 nurses, therapists and other support staff work together to provide compassionate care and superior patient outcomes. Lahey's multidisciplinary approach allows patients access to preeminent physicians from virtually every medical specialty, who cooperate to develop personalized treatment plans for each patient. From advanced technology to research and medical education, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center combines the renowned specialty resources of its medical centers with top-quality primary care services at community-based practices throughout northeastern Massachusetts. Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Burlington, encompasses an ambulatory care center serving more than 3,000 patients each day and a 317-bed hospital. Lahey Medical Center, Peabody, serves more than 800 outpatients each day and includes a 10-bed hospital. Both feature 24-hour emergency departments, and an American College of Surgeons verified Level II Trauma Center is based at the Burlington facility. The Cerebrovascular Disease Center is among the most advanced in the region for the treatment of strokes and brain aneurysms. The liver transplantation team was the first in New England to perform adult living-donor transplant procedures. In addition, surgeons are using minimally invasive laparoscopic methods, reducing the surgical recovery time for conditions such as kidney disease and bladder cancer. The Landsman Heart & Vascular Center at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is one of the largest in the region. Through partnerships with local hospitals, Lahey physicians are providing New England communities with expertise in advanced cardiology services such as angioplasty and electrophysiology, and helping to train other physicians. Lahey's community-based physicians have a wide range of special interests. The community group practices feature adult internists, pediatricians and family practice specialists. These practices enable Lahey Hospital & Medical Center to serve communities as diverse as Amesbury on the North Shore, Lexington in Boston's northwestern suburbs, and Haverhill on the New Hampshire border. Teaching and Research Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is a teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine. In addition, many of our physicians hold teaching assignments at Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine. Lahey maintains residency and fellowship programs for more than 130 new physicians in multiple subspecialties. As a research center, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center offers patients access to clinical trials of new therapies for diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease and cataracts. Research programs at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center encompass more than 200 clinical trial protocols and participation in numerous national and international studies.Skills We're Looking For
