Co-op Electrical Engineer

L-3 is a prime contractor in aerospace systems. L-3 is also a leading provider of a broad range of communication and electronic systems and products used on military and commercial platforms.

L-3 Communication Systems-West is currently seeking a qualified Co-op Electrical Engineer with knowledge and experience in electrical circuit design, digital communications theory and digital signal processing techniques. Successful candidates will be members of a highly motivated, multi-disciplined, cross-functional design engineering team.

• Hardware, software and firmware design, development, and testing of custom digital communications equipment.
• Requirements analysis, allocation, flow-down, and generation. The ability to understand high-level system requirements and customer goals is essential.
• Perform work in small cross-functional design teams to creatively design new products and satisfy customer’s needs. A broad technical skill set and understanding of hardware design is important.
• Perform analysis and simulation to estimate system-level radio performance in various environmental conditions.
• Continual learning to both broaden and increase depth of technical skill set.

• Sophomore to Senior BS student in Electrical Engineering, in an accredit ABET program.
• Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Education in Electrical Circuit Design, including Electromagnetics.
• Education in Digital Communications Theory and Digital Signal Processing techniques.
• Familiarity with Matlab.
• Familiarity with an HDL for FPGA development (Verilog or VHDL).
• Familiarity with HDL simulation environments.
• Proficient interpersonal communication skills are required, including ability to present to larger audiences and lead team efforts.
