Research Scientist

KLA-Tencor was formed in April 1997 through the merger of KLA Instruments (KLA) and Tencor Instruments (Tencor), two long-time leaders in the semiconductor equipment and yield management software system industry. Prior to the merger, both businesses served a segment of the inspection and metrology area; with KLA focused on defect inspection solutions and Tencor placing its emphasis on metrology solutions.

This position is for Research Scientist in product development group at KLA-Tencor. This group is working on wafer inspection system. Qualified candidate should have hands-on experience in designing, building and troubleshooting laser illumination systems. Candidate will be a part of the team working on development of illumination source system for N+1 and N+2 product lines. Candidate will be interface between Technology development team and System Engineering team. He/She will design and conduct experiments to demonstrate proof of concept in a fast paced industrial settings. Job responsibility is to lead development effort of precision high power Deep UV Laser system. Major responsibilities are modeling of concepts of forth harmonic generation of YAG laser using Non-linear crystals, developing error budgets, working with design engineering to prototype and test selected architecture, using test results to optimize the prototype and finally introduce that system into manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications

Qual:

• PhD, or MS/BS in Physics, Applied Physics, EE, ME or OE

Strong background in:

• Laser Physics, Zemax or CodeV
• Proficient in Matlab (or Python), Labview
• Experience with laser beam Optics Systems
• Experience with high power lasers (Visible and DUV),
• Strong hands on skills
• Strong analytical skills

Essential skills:

• Experitise in optical alignement with high power laser systems, beam metrology such as M^2 measurement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate (Academic) with at least 2 years of experience.ORMaster's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience.ORBachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
