Food Engineer

The Food Engineer utilizes the latest technology, tools and food science principles in the creation, development and scale-up of new seafood products to optimize safety, supply, nutrition, customer satisfaction and value for King & Prince Seafood. This position researches, designs and applies innovative engineering techniques to process, preserve and improve seafood products and provides new product support to manufacturing operations.

* Collaborates with Food Scientists to assist in preparing food product samples and designing tests for projects and special requests. Simulates manufacturing processes in all sample production. * Collects the appropriate data and maintains accurate records for prototype duplication. * Leads and coordinates the pilot scale testing and preparation of products in manufacturing. * Documents and communicates any findings in process limitations during sample production. * Serves as a key source and clearinghouse for food science information, best practices, industry trends and new research. * Analyzes and investigates current processes, product improvements and/or cost saving opportunities. * Assists manufacturing personnel with data collection to meet quality expectations of new and existing products. * Provides technical support to personnel in the Research and Development department and laboratory. * Plays a key role in the design and development of product specifications consistent with manufacturing processes. * Maintains a solid knowledge and awareness of seafood products and related chemistry, food engineering research, and competitive products.

* Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering or closely related field * 3-6 years of relevant food engineering experience * Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills * Ability to collaborate productively and work in a team environment * Excellent written and verbal communication skills
