Summary
This position supports students during their pre enrollment or continuous enrollment phases by primarily performing a specific processing function associated with the awarding, packaging, validation of eligibility, and disbursement of Title IV financial aid. Incumbents may also be responsible for specialized services provided to unique student segments, complex eligibility situations, or specialized funding.
Responsibilities
- Review of applications and other documents for student Title IV Financial aid eligibility per Dept. of Education eligibility requirements, including an evaluation of overlapping loans. - May perform Verification for selected students with complex marital, household, or tax situations. - May package enrolled students as well as perform modifications based on changes in eligibility. - Ability to resolve some C code issues, if needed. - Review and processing of some professional judgment requests of a routine nature. - Proactively reaching out to newly enrolled and continuing students, as needed. - Review and complete more complex work requirements received from student-facing contacts and internal department that are received through Ticketing System. Interacting with outside agencies, such as the veteran's administration, when needed. - May review COD exception reports and resolving issues, as needed. - May be responsible for NSLDS transfer monitoring functions and associated processing. - Will conduct account reviews to ensure timely disbursements and the resolution of exceptions. - May create award letters, including estimated awards, as needed. - Will be required to learn new tasks and adapt quickly to changes in responsibility. - This includes schedule adherence, attending training classes and adherence to all SOPs. May be given a specific assignment or share the above responsibilities with others in a team environment.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Qualifications** - Bachelor's Degree - Two years of financial aid experience. - Versed in MS Office suite. - Advanced knowledge of financial aid: Eligibility requirements for military and non-military students, requirements for resolution of C codes, verification completion and conflicting information, professional judgment indications, federal grants and loans eligibility, federal student loans and private student loans eligibility, cost of attendance components, consequences of withdrawing from course(s) and/or the university, satisfactory academic progress requirements. - Ability to multi-task. - Ability to de-escalate difficult interactions. - Detail oriented. - Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely. **Preferred Qualifications** - One year of customer service, recommended. - Software systems experience: Orion and CampusVue.
