Summary
The Manager Warehouse Operations is accountable for all aspects of organizing and managing the storage and distribution of inventories across the Smithfield Foods supply chain network. In this role, you will ensure the right products are stored and delivered to the right location on time and within budget. This position will have responsibilities for managing and supporting all operational and reporting requirements, including public storage locations, third party managed, and internally operated distribution facilities.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate and coordinate with production, supply and demand planning teams. Review forecasts and proactively determine storage requirements. * Review and approve storage and handling invoices. * Responsible for meeting safety, quality and sanitation standards. * Implements and maintains policy and procedures relating to inventory storage and handling. This includes ensuring the accuracy of warehouse inventory and analyzing product movement. * Ensures facilities are in compliance with regulatory, Smithfield, and customer required policies and procedures. * Maximize effectiveness of all direct facility reports through leadership and communication. * Perform scheduled site inspections and evaluations. * Responsible for associate development through training on policy & procedures. * Create a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open. * Recognize signs of operational problems and provide detailed action steps required of facility management to correct. * Coordinate facility requirements for reporting management reports and KPI’s. * Responsible for development and maintenance of budgets and goals. * Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. * Facilitate requests from procurement, identify and roll out new/contract facilities as required. * Develop and maintain business continuity program. * Direct point of contact for facility managers/operators. * Support special projects and duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university required. 5 years’ of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. * 3 years of experience in plant or warehouse management or supervisory role. * Knowledge of Public Storage and Distribution Center operations. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with warehouse management systems is required. * Quantitative background with strong written and verbal communication skills. * Project management skills. * Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, motivate, and train. * Strong knowledge of perishable warehouse operations.
