Summary
The JCCSF is now hiring gymnastics and movement coaches for summer camp. JCCSF offers one, two, and three week camp sessions with a gymnastics focus for girls grades 1 - 5. Camps run June 6 - August 19, 2016 with an additional four days of staff training, May 30 - June 3. Camp activities include gymnastics, art, dance and swimming, with this position mainly responsible for teaching recreational gymnastics and counselor duties. Camp counselors are responsible for the direct care, safety and supervision of campers. Counselors work with other camp staff to create a safe, fun, and exciting environment for campers.
Responsibilities
* Supervise, provide care for, and be the primary role model for a group of campers’ grades 1-5. * Coach gymnastics to children grades 1-5. * Responsible for set-up/breakdown of equipment * Create a safe, supportive, stimulating and fun environment for campers. * Provide continuous, direct supervision during structured and unstructured activities, including swimming and out of the building activities. * Ensure campers' safety on field trips and excursions. * Practice personal leadership skills. * Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors. * Model appropriate behavior for campers. * Additional responsibilities as required.
Ideal Candidate
* Must have knowledge of basic gymnastics or movement skills. * Must be able to lift children and spot various moves on equipment. * Must be comfortable in swimming pools. * Experience working with children ages 5-15, preferably in a camp setting. * Ability to respond sensitively to diverse groups of children. * Experience creating and planning activities. * Ability to work well in teams. * Ability to juggle attention to one camper while supervising large groups. * Enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise is a must * Must be high school graduate and 18 years or older by May 30, 2016
