Summary
The Argo Engineering department is seeking an Electrical Engineering student to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will assist in improving of existing databases, data collection tools, review of existing electrical documentation, development and improvements of electrical system model for computer studies and simulations, analysis of results to identify opportunities for optimization of power distribution, improvements in reliability and energy savings.
Responsibilities
**Become familiar with plant power distribution system:** Become familiar with all aspects of plant electrical system, from 138 kV supply, 12 kV distribution, generation to utilization at various voltage levels. Become familiar and proficient with the E-Tap software, its database and results of short circuit, coordination and arc flash studies. Become familiar and master the use of other tools used in the plant, ie. Meridian, Aspen, Intellution. Evaluate opportunities for improvement in existing databases and data collection systems. **Complete all electrical studies using available E-Tap modules:** Evaluate existing studies results by confirming them with actual, real time measurements. Analyze and modify existing input data and methodology used to make sure that the results are accurate. Recommend changes to improve system stability, optimize selectivity of protective devices and reduce arc flash hazard.
Ideal Candidate
**Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:** * Progress towards a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of college and have a GPA of at least 2.8/4.0. * Assertive, creative, energetic, and positive thinking * Demonstrate analytical problem solving skills * Developed multi-tasking and time management skills * PC skilled with word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet experience * Qualified candidates must currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the US. These internships are not provided under CPT or OPT. **Desired behavior, personal attributes,(Success Drivers And Competencies):** * Good electrical engineering knowledge, especially as it relates to power distribution networks * Familiarity with database management * Willingness to learn quickly * Good problem solving skills * Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment * Ability to self-teach using manuals, documentation and online information * Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
