Independent Energy Standards (IES) is seeking an Analytics Engineer to own our data-driven deliverables to existing clients and the prototyping/implementing of new analyses to satisfy our various target verticals. This position will be based in San Francisco and will report directly to the Head of Product and Strategy.
- Ensure delivery of high quality software-generated, data-driven reports.
- Work with existing customers to understand how analyses are applied and how the content can be leveraged to realize greater value.
- Pursue ad-hoc analysis of new data sources and visualizations to support current customer needs.
- Work with Head of Product and engineering team to formally implement new analysis into existing product.
- Own data and analytics based product development projects – i.e. calibration, data based insights, etc.
- Relentless orientation towards quality; you immediately ask what holes exist and can’t sign off on an output without a basic sanity check.
- Ability to communicate conclusions via well-structured presentations and well-designed data visualizations.
- Ability to quickly and effectively wrangle data; you can quickly create, prioritize and test hypotheses as you research the meaning and usability of new data sets.
- Hungry and humble, low ego and willing to do what it takes to succeed.
- Thoughtful, curious and a problem solver.
- Some programming experience - Python, R, VBA, Java, etc.
- Experience using SQL to extract data from well-structured data store.
- Desire to expand knowledge of technical aspects of data analysis.
