Summary
You will be responsible for scaling our architecture across multiple datacenters using GSLB and various CDN networks. You will also work closely with the Engineering teams ensuring we instrument all parts of our stack, including, but not limited to, our new Docker/Scala microservice backend and establishing all the capabilities required to build a self healing infrastructure supporting continuous integration and deployment.
Responsibilities
* Ensure complete automation of all aspects of the infrastructure using tools like Cloudformation, Chef, Packer, Ansible, Jenkins * Ability to instrument all services by leveraging tools such as Nagios, NewRelic, ELK and Statsd to provide meaningful dashboards and insights into platform behavior, trending, and alerts via PagerDuty * Oversee the scalability of our platform by building out a proper architecture across our DNS, CDN and GSLB platforms ensuring a truly redundant multi-datacenter and auto scaling architecture leveraging tools and services like ELB, HaProxy and Nginx * Work with our various database and messaging systems such as MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, and Kafka to ensure a properly tuned and scaled backend data platform and message bus * Build out caching strategies for the various platforms using our CDNs and local Varnish deployments
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent * 3+ years strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills and knowledge of various linux open source tools * Excellent knowledge of Internet protocols such as HTTP, DNS, SSH, FTP, and RSYNC * Strong networking background and knowledge of load balancing technologies such as Nginx/Apache, CDNs, GSLB, and caching technologies, such as Varnish * Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and recommend new solutions to difficult engineering and networking related problems
