Summary
We’re looking for a Design Researcher who can lead and inspire a multidisciplinary design team through the complexities of contextual qualitative research.
Responsibilities
- As a human centered design consultancy it is key that we always understand, empathize, and are inspired by the people we intend to benefit from our solutions. Your primary roles will be in both helping uncover and synthesize the diverse stories and insights that are the foundation for our designs, and keeping the team and client inspired by learning throughout the iterative design process. - You thrive working in a fast paced environment where bringing your ‘A’ game everyday is critical. You are totally comfortable working with ambiguity and racing toward an unknown solution with your teammates. You are insatiably curious and are able to draw connections between seemingly unrelated topics. And you are constantly an advocate for the user. You can navigate tricky multi-stakeholder problems and find the sweetspot for innovation. **Some previous projects to check out:** - Our projects vary immensely in both content and scope, but are always grounded in design research. Check out some of our projects such as… **Well Experience Pharmacy for Walgreens** - Our researcher helped build an entire experience from digital interfaces to human interaction. They also got to collaborate with designers in running a pilot to help the team iterate and refine towards the final design solution. **Making Paint Shopping More Fun and Intuitive** - Our researcher helped the team uncover how to build an experience around the needs of three separate consumers; the contractors, the homeowner, and the professional interior designer, all in a shared space. **PNC wealth insight** - Our researcher led the team in interviewing and designing tools to help high net worth individuals better understand and manage their investments. **Empowering librarians to design new services** - Pur researcher helped to find new approaches to help librarians engage their communities.
Ideal Candidate
- Translated a project brief into an inspiring, immersive, in-context research plan, and what you learned by personally executing the plan. - Encouraged research participants to comfortably share their experiences and ‘got below the surface’ - Observed contrasts between what research participants say, do, and feel - Synthesized varying sources of research information into actionable insights that have “design energy” for designers. - Used storytelling to help the team and client understand and internalize the needs. - Guided designers so that the research directly influenced design outcomes. - Understood how different design teams may need different inspiration and flexibly changed your approach to suit the needs of the design team
