Summary
The Senior Configuration Manager is responsible for managing and improving the company’s build and release processes. This position will work across multiple departments to facilitate the development of the company’s products. The Senior Configuration Manager operates with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
* Maintain Source & Version control engines * Development of code line policies (e.g., tagging, branching, merging strategies) * Code/build promotion to different environments * Creating and reviewing deployment plans with project stakeholders * Working with release engineers and project management to schedule and execute releases to various environments * Package software using a variety of packaging methods (e.g., RPMs,Unix tarball) * Research problems as assigned and make initial recommendations for resolution * Identify root causes of problems and independently solve them. Identify and implement ways to avoid similar problems in the future. * Help define and implement build practices * Help develop and improve build scripts written in Ant/Maven * Provide technical support to software/QA engineers as related to configuration management where needed * Ability to work well with other team members and collaborates with peers across the organization. * Support and act in accordance with final group decisions although they may not entirely reflect their own position * Provide technical leadership for the Configuration Management team. * Coach lower level employees and provide constructive feedback * Provide a positive example to others. * Automating repetitive or lengthy manual tasks via scripting in order to minimize human error and reduce deployment times * Focus appropriately to meet deliverables * Effectively manage and prioritize requests from multiple sources * Create higher than expected client satisfaction by setting appropriate expectations and meeting timeline commitments * Ensure client commitments are met * Provides feedback from client and assumes full responsibility for solving client issues * Participation in company’s CCB process * Participation in and/or help to define audit requirements for change control * Help define audit requirements for change control * Support change control process audits * Keeping abreast of current advancements and trends in Configuration Management technology and practices. * Other duties as assigned **Additional Information:** * This brief summary is not an all-inclusive description of job duties. Ideal Candidate
* BS degree or equivalent experience * Minimum 5 years experience in Configuration Management * Work experience in a Linux-based SaaS environment * Git and Subversion administration experience * Linux scripting using Bash, Perl, or Python * A solid understanding of Configuration Management best practices and principles * Hands on experience creating, implementing, or customizing build automation tools * Ability to manage multiple software releases in multiple environments * Demonstrated problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all technical stakeholders **Preferred Skills** * Experience installing, using and maintaining continuous delivery environments built in Jenkins CI * Experience with Java build tools such as Ant or Maven * Experience automating tasks using Python/shell scripting * Experience integrating QA test automation suites into a continuous delivery framework * Experience working in a development environment using open source libraries/frameworks * Experience developing code line policies * Experience administering and managing Docker environments * Proficiency with Linux operating systems – (SAGE level 2 or above)
