Summary
Understanding the role of the microbiome in human health and disease is an important component of HLI’s mission. HLI is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead the human microbiome team. The successful candidate will have very strong domain expertise and technical skills, combined with proven leadership abilities and the ability to thrive in a fast paced and demanding environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain state-of-the-art microbiome informatics infrastructure - Guide organization through the selection and implementation of innovative computing technologies - Oversee the integration of microbiome data with metabolomic, genomic and phenotypic data and create novel discoveries - Lead the microbiome informatics and engineering team - Ensure that Human Longevity remains at the forefront of the human microbiome field
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Qualifications (Must have)** - Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science or related fields - Expert in human microbiome and metagenomics fields with strong experience in clinical translation of research - Experience in high throughput computing and large-scale processing of next-generation sequencing technology data - Thrive in a culture of curiosity, collaboration, innovation and accountability - English proficiency - Proficient in Linux - Python, C , .NET, TFS/GitHub - Cloud computing experience, preferably in AWS - Extensive technology/biotechnology experience ( 5 years) - Experience leading technical teams ( 5 years) - Strong publication record in high impact peer reviewed journals and scientific conference presentations. - Strong communication skills. - Global collaborations experience - Hands-on bioinformatics experience with Illumina and Pac Bio platforms - Multidimensional information integration and analytics - Integrated phenotypic and clinical data analysis **Preferred Qualifications** - Working knowledge of Cloud computing platforms and computational workflow environments - Working knowledge of databases - Experience with agile technology development methods - Experience in either a start-up company or establishing new technology platforms in a larger academic or business organization
